Freda let me borrow her new Minolta SLR so I took it on a bike ride with buddies Gregg and Mike to Port Washington, L.I. Here, along the Horace Harding Expressway, I took this shot. It was part of a roll of film that I developed, for the first time, in my own darkroom, but not until we moved to Denver later that year. The photo got accidentally sliced in half during enlargement but I ended up liking it that way.
We had lunch in Port Washington, then hung out on the pier. I like this shot because they are ignoring me and this adds to its spontaneity. Mike is eating something out of a paper bag (nuts?) while Gregg may be playing an air guitar.
